Assess sites for business with this free tool

VSAT is a free business mobile app that allows you to easily assess potential sites for company and public use. Developed by Pool Reinsurance Company, this app works in conjunction with the web-based Vulnerability Self-Assessment Tool (VSAT™), so you can quickly assign assessments for insurance purposes.

Users can access VSAT via the developer’s official website. However, this means that you can’t use it as efficiently on your mobile device’s browser. This app allows ease of access and convenience for all users—although it tends to stop working and not open most of the time, which makes things more difficult.

To prepare against terrorism

Pool Reinsurance Company Limited, also known as Pool Re, is a mutual reinsurer company that can provide cover for losses resulting from acts of terrorism. It was first set up in 1993 by the insurance industry in cooperation with the UK Government in the wake of the IRA bombing of the Baltic Exchange in 1992. Today, the company offers business solutions for risk.

One of these solutions is VSAT or Vulnerability Self-Assessment Tool, which lets you identify emerging threats and understand their impact on all aspects of your business, as well as your customers. This free tool is designed for medium and large businesses and targets six fundamental security-related categories to create accurate assessments. It also generates recommendations after you get your results in order to address the Risk Rating you received.

Using the VSAT app, you can easily use the web tool while on the go. Note, however, that your business has to be signed up first to access it. Navigating the app itself is similar to the web version. There are two tabs: Start Assessments and View Reports. There’s nothing new in this app, so it’s really more convenient. Unfortunately, however, it doesn’t work as smoothly as you’d hope.

Needs a lot of work

All in all, VSAT was definitely designed to be easy to use whenever you’re outside. Not only does it provide a better mobile user interface than the website on a mobile browser, but it retains all of the web tool’s features. However, its performance is disappointing as it’s prone to either crashing or not opening at all whenever you run it.
